ZA for travel-sake.

South Africa isn't just for mission trips, it's a beautiful place to visit for travel-sake.  Cape Town is a beautiful stunner of a city, I can't wait to spend more time there at leisure!

My rental car in front of what I think is supposed to be the 12 Apostles? First time left-side of the road driving!
The beach at Camps Bay.
Penguins making their morning trek to the water at Boulders Beach.
View of Table Mountain at the V&A Waterfront.
The lighthouse at the Cape of Good Hope.

Here's a quirk: I had a couple of days to spare so I decided think outside of the box and stay at Old Mac Daddy Luxury Trailer Park.  Yes, trailer park.  Each of the park's dozen themed trailers are decorated according to theme.  Fabulous.

View of the main building from my trailer.
The inside of my trailer, called "Life Before Colour."
Full-sized bath inside!

To make things even better, because it was winter and down-season, I had the entire resort to myself! The food was wonderful, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and I will definitely be making a return someday.  Check out the Old Mac Daddy website here: http://www.oldmacdaddy.co.za

Now, what about safari? Yessssssss! These were taken at the Inverdoorn Game Reserve and Resort, about 2.5 hours outside of Cape Town:

This reserve boasts a specialty cheetah reserve  and lovely accommodations! Giraffes are still my favorite. Here's the website: http://www.inverdoorn.com.

Playing catch-up: Love to South Africa!

In July I will be heading back to South Africa on mission.  Along with 11 other members of my church will return to serve the beautiful people of Beaufort West, a town a 6 hour drive from Cape Town.  I am extra excited because we have arranged a 20-foot seaworthy shipping container full of goodies to hopefully meet us there!  After the contents are dispensed, the container will be used as a building to accompany the Sunrise Community Center (also a pre-loved shipping container) in an area of Beaufort West conveniently referred to as "Little Baghdad," for it's danger and violence.   We will also have the privilege of serving alongside other ministries such as Helping Hands, Nozi's Soup Kitchen, Annex Youth Center and the Beaufort West Trash Dump.  I can't wait to see some of these beautiful and loving faces again- especially Gershwin, he's the kid with the soccer ball...

Camp Footprints 2012

The only place you'll get your face permanent marker-ed, and go to work the next week with a half-shaved head.

Do it for the kids! Check out Camp Footprints!

This year's company trip... not bad for a week at the office!

Globe-Trotter does it again!

A Globe-Trotter suitcase has been at the very top of my lust-worthy wishlist of desirable somedays for years now.  Craftsmanship. Style. Luxury. Sigh.  The company has come up with a killer collaboration with Manolo Blahnik for yet another to-die-for limited edition collection for Lane Crawford. Swoon.  Check out Globe-Trotter and the rest of the 40-year anniversary Manolo Blahnik collab fest.
